She holds a Bachelor of Science from Monash University and a Graduate Diploma in Psychology from the University of Melbourne. Her further qualifications include a Diploma in Relationship and Family Therapy, and a two-year supervised clinical training program in counselling and psychotherapy at the Cairnmillar Institute.
Helen is skilled in helping with the spectrum of issues that arise in our personal lives, ranging from depression and anxiety, to the stresses created by loss, separation and transition. In addition to individual therapy, Helen also consults with couples and families. She facilitates mutual awareness of patterns of relating and communication that have become problematic, to help create more effective relationships and greater personal fulfillment.
Helen adopts an integrative approach, combining a number of therapeutic orientations including cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), client-centered therapy, and exploratory psychotherapy, depending on each person’s specific needs and situation. At the center of her approach, Helen’s particular interest is in relationships, including the relationship to the self, as she believes this is the foundation from which we understand and relate to others. |
